Works > The Bureau of Linguistical Reality

The Bureau of Linguistical Reality is a collaborative public participatory artwork by Alicia Escott and Heidi Quante recognizing a collective loss for words to describe the emotions and experiences our species is having as our world rapidly changes due to climate change and other Anthropogenic events. Asking the questions of who has the agency to define this moment— and the words we use to talk about it, The Bureau creates a platform for people to identify feelings and experiences for which they don't have the language to talk about and together coin new words that act as points of connectivity to recognize and talk directly about phenomena that can be difficult to discuss in our current culture.
